I was able to try out Eat a Pitta on a fleeting trip to Bristol recently after seeing great recommendations and reviews. Although this stall in St. Nicholas Market is not 100% gluten-free, I felt completely reassured by the staff and they are set up to cater for people with coeliac disease.

The food

The staff were really knowledgable about coeliac disease and let me know what I could and couldn’t have on the menu. I was advised to avoid the pittas and a couple of sauces that weren’t safe for coeliacs, and I went for the Classic Salad Box, which was packed full of different salads, humous, gherkins, and perfectly crispy gluten-free falafels. I’m pretty sure the entire menu is veggie, but make sure to check about any allergies (there is also an allergen matrix on the website linked above).

It was great to be able to see the food being safely prepared in the back, and the person making my salad box washed their hands and made sure the risk of cross-contamination was really minimal, which I appreciated so much.

Where to find them

You can find Eat a Pitta in five different locations across Bristol, including St. Nicholas Market and Broadmead, and they also have a location in Bath on Westgate Street. Make sure to check out the locations page on their website for all their locations and opening hours.
